Change is good.
It’s been a little quiet on I Heart ROC, but my life has been anything but. I’ve spent the last few weeks trying to figure out a lot of things, specifically how to continue this project now that I will no longer be living in Rochester. It felt a little hypocritical to me, to be singing Rochester praises while I hurriedly pack up my life and get ready to move 3,000 miles away. But then I thought about how much I’ve enjoyed bringing this little side project of mine to life. I’ve learned so much about this city and the people in it, and I know there is so much more to explore. So, I am going to continue I Heart ROC. It may look a little different than it did before, but I hope it will still be a fun, candid showcase of what people love about this city.
Moving forward, here are the changes that will be coming up. Since I won’t be around to do the interviews in person, I will be looking for people who would like to contribute on their own. If you heart the ROC and have a knack for taking sweet pics, then I would love to hear from you! You can get in touch with me at hello@iheartroc.com. I will also be redesigning the site on a new platform that will make it easier for me to maintain. Up to this point, I’ve been hand-coding everything, which is a long and tedious process. A redesign is in order to keep the site looking nice and for me to retain my sanity.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far, and to all the people who enjoy reading these stories. There are a lot of exciting changes on the horizon for me personally, but one thing will remain the same:
Rochester will always feel like home.
